Welcome to Pro-Vision
More than a School.....  A Community
Purpose and Passion
The mission of Pro-Vision is to inspire hope and purpose.  Pro-Vision addresses the needs of young men who are underserved by society and are at risk of dropping out of school. These young men, 85% African-American and 15% Hispanic, range in age from 11-18 and come to Pro-Vision for a second chance.  Pro-Vision helps young men defy the odds.  Instead of becoming the one in three African-American males or one in six Hispanic males who are incarcerated at some point in their lives, they become community leaders.  90% of Pro-Vision middle school graduates go on to receive high school diplomas, and after graduation 97% are employed, pursuing advanced degrees, attending a trade school or serving in the military.  Pro-Vision’s success is due in large measure to the organization’s holistic educational model which seeks to develop self esteem, job and study skills, a sense of civic responsibility, and an unshakable sense of self worth.  Pro-Vision participants are pointed toward lives of integrity and purpose and their success inspires others.
Pro-Vision takes students who are two grade levels behind and alters their self-perception by creating a community that emphasizes social skills, self awareness and a solid work ethic.  Pro-Vision takes great care to allow strong mentoring relationships to develop between students and teachers who are referred to as “life coaches.”  The emphasis on these relationships is a cornerstone of Pro-Vision’s educational approach.  Students have the opportunity to be guided, challenged, and supported by adults whose are not just classroom teachers, but who are conveyers of the organization’s core principles.  Mentoring relationships are the prisms through which students come to see their worth and abilities.

Today, what began as two men, a basketball court and a dream has evolved into multifaceted organization on a 21 acre campus with an urban farm program, a middle school, a high school and year round enrichment and job training programs.  Through these programs, Pro-Vision seeks to engage multiple community resources and individuals.  Pro-Vision sees itself not just as a school, but as a community.
